How do you find out if there is a mistake in your credit report?
February 4th, 2012The first step in finding out if there is a mistake in your credit report is obtaining a copy of your credit report. Included in this Web site are three sample letters, one for each of the three major credit reporting agencies. By using these letters you can request a copy of your credit report be sent to you. Federal law requires the credit reporting agencies to provide you with a free credit report annually upon your request. Go to www.ftc.gov to order your free credit reports on line. Once you have examined your credit report, you should be able to see if there are any mistakes in your report.
